And secondly, men were SUGGESTED to be good to their wives and patient with them and not violate their rights etc etc because men have the power & the authority that they can misuse. A wife/woman doesn’t have that. They can always exercise the endless rights they’ve been given over their wives &, in doing so, be unfair to them(can be accidentally)… so they’re advised over & over to be vigilant about their own rights and responsibilities so that they may not accidentally be cruel to their wives. Wives are not warned the same way because we don’t have any such authority that we can misuse. (Even with respect to our own stated rights, we are in a begging position) Instead, we are straight up threatened. “If you refuse your husband sex, angels curse you, if you’re disobedient Allah is angry at you & you’re not righteous, if you leave your house without your husband’s permission, your prayers won’t be accepted, if you annoy your husband Allah is annoyed at you & the houris repeatedly curse you. Women are the majority in hellfire because they’re ungrateful to their husbands etc etc” (not alienating, & patronising at all btw) It’s the same way in a master-slave context. The masters get warned so they don’t mistreat their slaves… The slaves don’t get warned because they don’t have any power or authority that they can wrongfully employ, they’re at the mercy of their owners. Same with parents and their children. So yeah, this is just ridiculous when someone makes it sound like men are at a severe disadvantage just because they were advised not to beat their wives at every minor inconvenience.
